With the dissertation hand in date already fast approaching, I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to take time during this module to free up some of the work load, by planning and completing necessary pre-production work in relation to the final piece I wish to create.
This may include;
- Script
- Film pitch
- Storyboards
- An investigation into using and implementing crowd sourcing methods to acquire a budget
- Studies into existing filmmakers/cinematographers that I wish to take inspiration from
My dissertation is to be based on creating a film using film as a medium, so for instance, shooting the final product on Super 8mm, 16mm or 35mm film stock but then using a digital workflow to complete the project. I have never used film to create a professional piece and have always wanted to branch towards this method to further develop my personal skills and knowledge on the processes that are undertaken. Due to the underlining fact that my final project will be shot on film stock, I also feel that a rough shoot and edit of the final film should be undertaken before the actual shoot, so that each shot is blocked out exactly how I wish it to be, saving time and any extensive planning closer to the filming dates. This is also a logistic and budget choice, allowing me to cut down on the amount of film stock used or wasted on framing and choosing the correct shots.
With the basic storyline for the idea already in place, I will begin over the next week to compile a rough, first draft of the script and post the results online. But, as an initial taste into what to expect on the overall style/inspiration of the film, here's a short clip to keep you interested.
